S4 Raising Attainment Evening
A reminder that our S4 Raising Attainment Evening takes place next Monday 18th September 2023 in Holy Cross High School Street at 7.00pm. We look forward to seeing the parents/carers of S4 at this hugely important evening.

School Photographs S1, S4 and S6
Our school photographer will be in Thursday (14th September) morning to take individual photographs of all of our S1, S4 and S6 pupils and also a group photo of S1 and S6.
Parents/carers will be able to purchase the photographs.

The link to the recording of the UCAS Information Evening has been placed on both the S6 and S5 PSE Google Classrooms.

S5/6 UCAS Events and Other Key Dates - Reminder
A reminder of some important info for all parents/carers of students applying for university this year
WEDNESDAY 6th SEPTEMBER - UCAS Webinar, hosted by senior admissions officer from Strathclyde University- Heather Black. Heather covers a wealth of information on the UCAS application process that is relevant for all universities.
Please join webinar for a 7pm start.

WEDNESDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER - UCAS Discovery Event - at UWS Blantyre Campus. All Scottish and some English universites attend and many Scottish colleges. We have 120 tickets from 1030am-12pm. Buses have been booked.
Students must pay £5 via Parent Pay and then download the e-ticket from link on PSE Google Classroom from Friday 8th.
S1/4/6 School Photographs
Thursday 14th September from 9am-12pm
St Andrews Hospice Fun Run - all S5/6 Pupils
Please return entry forms with fee to Mrs Duffy by the end of Wednesday 6th September. The run/jog/walk is on Sunday 17th September in Strathclyde Park and is a wonderful way for all Lanarkshire schools to come together to support such a wonderful charity. If students can't make it, please consider donating on our JustGiving page.

Pupil Leadership Team Photographs - Monday 4th Sept
We will be taking pictures of Monday periods 1 and 2 of pupils leadership team - all Captains, Vice Captain and House Captains, Vice and Prefects.
Please come to the oratory at the times below - register with your period 1 teacher first
Period 1 - St Columba, St Andrew, St Francis and St Ninian House
Period 2 - St Kentigern, St Gabriel and St Margaret
We will take individual pictures and group pictures.
This will help the whole school identify and seek you out for support.
Lower School Awards Ceremony tonight
We look forward to welcoming our lower school award winners and their parents and carers to tonight's Awards Ceremony here in the school. This will be a great occasion to highlight the achievements and talents of these young people from last session's S1,S2 and S3.
We ask all the award winners to come in full school uniform. The ceremony starts at 7pm in the Street area of the school.The sign in desks will be open from 6:15pm. Remember to sign in for each category for which you have been nominated. You should be seated for 6:45pm.
There will be some light refreshments for everyone after the ceremony.
Well done to all our award winners!
MESSAGE FROM OUR PARENT COUNCIL
Holy Cross High School Parent Council AGM will be held this coming Tuesday 5th September at 7pm in the conference room in the school. All parents/carers of pupils at Holy Cross are welcome and encouraged to attend. The AGM is an opportunity to catch up with the work of the parent council and the ideal time to join us!.
In order to be as accessible and inclusive as possible it is our intention to host the meeting in person and online (technology permitting!) We always prefer to see everyone in person however if you cannot attend in person and would like to join us remotely please email us at hcparentcouncil@gmail.com with your name and the name and year group of your child and we will send you a meeting link.

Senior school is an exciting and challenging time for our young people. There are lots of opportunities to get involved in the wider life of the school and engage with the school community in different ways. There is also a lot of support available for students who are planning their next step after school. Here are some of the key dates through the month of September
Wednesday 6th September UCAS Information online seminar

For all young people applying to university Pupils, parents/carers should log in
Thursday 7th September NHS Next Gen Event – 4-7pm Kirkland’s Hospital for anyone intersted in a career in the NHS. Drop in session for pupils/parents/carers, no need to book
Wednesday 13th September – UCAS Event all Scottish Universities and many college attend - for those applying to university this year at UWS Campus at 10am, bus from school costs £5 - pay via Parent Pay from Thursday 31st August
Thursday 14th September – S1/4/6 Individual and S6 Group School Photographs
Sunday 17th September – St Andrews Hospice Run/Walk at Strathclyde Park
There are also a number of university open days in September, pupils who wish to go should email Mrs Duffy for permission detailing the faculty they are visiting. Students are limited to one open day per institution.

I am delighted to return to Holy Cross High School after a period of absence and along with Mrs L Millar we will be overseeing the S4 year group in this very important year for them.
My working pattern is Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday and Mrs Millar will be Depute Head Teacher on Thursday/Friday for the year ahead.
