Closing the gap

The Scottish Attainment Fund and Pupil Equity Fund were set up with the goal of closing the poverty-related attainment gap. In order to support our young people with Literacy and Numeracy, we have introduced a number of interventions and strategies.

Literacy

Here are just a few examples of the literacy interventions running this year.

1-1 support
IDL - The IDL Literacy Intervention is a speaking-computer based multi-sensory system which supports learners to increase their reading and spelling ages.
Sumdog SPaG- Digital spelling and grammar games.
Drama workshops.
Creative writing workshops.

Numeracy

Here are just a few examples of the numeracy interventions running this year.

1-1 support
Sumdog - Sumdog provides targeted practice for key maths skills.
Numicon- Numicon encourages children to explore maths using structured imagery and apparatus in order to understand and explain mathematical concepts.

National Reading Champions Quiz

Pupils this year are taking part in the regional heats of the National Reading Champions Quiz to encourage reading for pleasure!

Learner Pathways

We are committed to ensuring positive destinations for all our young people. As a result of this we continue to introduce more opportunities for young people to achieve their full potential.
