Watch the first film adaptation of O Henry's short story, "Gift of the Magi." Notice that the setting is the same in the film as it is in the story: early twentieth century NY. Dialogue has been added. As you watch, meditate on the following questions for analysis. Consider how the characters in this adaptation compare to the ones you read in the story. Does the adaptation capture what you imagined? What else do we learn about Della and Jim's personality?
