UK Education System
The UK education system is divided into early years, primary education (up to Year 6), secondary education (Year 7-11), pre-university or further education (Year 12-13), and higher education consisting of undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
Since each of the UK countries have autonomy over educational issues, there are some minor differences in the education system in different parts of the UK.
Australian Qualification Framework
There are 10 levels of qualifications that students can earn in Australia after completing their school education. The levels, and the specific educational standards for each qualification are specified in, and frequently referred to as the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF).
Education Pathways for International Students
Students who wish to study in Australia may first attend a pathway program to help them meet the entry requirements to get into the course they want. This might include taking an English language preparation course, attending an Australian school or VET, or enrolling in a foundation studies or bridging course.
Application Requirements and Deadlines
Have a student that’s ready to study in Australia? Start by reviewing the admission requirements for each of the programs that the student is interested in. To gain admission, students need to satisfy the academic requirements of the course and demonstrate the level of English language proficiency required by the institution.
Genuine Temporary Entrant Assessment
Students need to complete their GTE questionnaire before they can accept their offer of admission. Some institutions will send students the link to complete the GTE questionnaire once they apply, while others may ask the student to complete the GTE questionnaire when they send a conditional offer of admission.
Financial Costs and Assistance
Though a worthwhile long-term investment, international education can be expensive. Being aware of all living expenses and budgeting accurately is critical to ensure students will have the financial means to complete their education.
Australia Student Visa
International students need a Student Visa (Subclass 500) to come and study in Australia. The visa application is submitted online, and only after the student is enrolled (and have paid their enrollment deposit) in a course of study in Australia.
