About me

BACKGROUND

My name is Joanne Hudson (please call me Jo) and I have over 33 years experience working in HR.  I started my career at Barnsley Council in 1994 where I worked in all areas of HR, including as a member of the traded team.  I had an allocation of 17 Barnsley primary schools and a handful of private sector organisations,  providing a full range of HR support.  I was approached in 2018 by one of my customers to work directly for them.  I made the decision to accept the opportunity and so I moved to a Multi-Academy Trust, consisting of 7 primary schools in August 2018 as the HR Manager.  This increased to 9 schools within my first 12 months.  I built the HR service from scratch and progressed to Chief HR and Operations Officer working at a senior and strategic level.

Having worked within the Education sector for over 10 years, I believe that having access to an independent HR service can really strengthen your position, with the aim to get the right outcome every time, and from this belief Skye HR and Training is born. 

A particular passion of mine is Safer Recruitment Training, which I have been delivering since 2009.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Life doesn’t always go to plan and I have had many life experiences along the way putting me in a strong position to empathise and understand challenges people face in the workplace with a solutions based approach. I am happy to offer an insight into my own strategies to deal with such life events, whilst remaining resilient and effective within the workplace. As you will see from “My Services” I offer Menopause support in the workplace which is a topic I can speak first hand about, this can be in the format that suits you, be it training or leading a working group.

On a brighter note, I now have an amazing husband and teenage daughter and the love of my life, my beagle Baxter, pictured above.
