Winter Weather and School Closures

With winter weather upon us, we want to remind families about our inclement weather procedures. Skutt Catholic makes independent decisions regarding school closures due to weather conditions. If we determine it is necessary to close school, you will receive notifications through the Infinite Campus messaging system (text, phone call, and email), and we will also post announcements on our social media pages. Please ensure your contact information in Infinite Campus is current so you receive these important alerts.

Please note that when local media announces "Archdiocese of Omaha schools are closed," this announcement typically refers to elementary schools. The Archdiocese grants high schools the authority to make their own closure decisions based on our unique circumstances. We will generally close school when snowfall creates hazardous driving conditions. However, we typically remain open during periods of extreme cold weather, as we do not operate buses and very few students walk to school. That said, if we are open and you determine that conditions are unsafe for your student to travel to school, you always have the right to keep them home. We understand this may differ from closure decisions made by other area schools, and we will always prioritize the safety of our students and staff when making these determinations.

Spring Break 2027: Spain and Portugal 
The 2027 Spring Break Trip to Spain & Portugal enrollment is open to 9-11th graders!! Students will practice the Spanish language and explore the rich culture they’ve been learning while visiting stunning cathedrals, museums, and beaches, learning flamenco dancing, and making authentic paella! One special trip highlight is the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia, which is expected to be finished in 2026 after 140 years of construction! The trip is expected to reach capacity. Weekly Adoration Has Started Again

We are still looking for parents to sign up as regular adorers in our chapel at the following times or to be on the sub list. Please email Christine French (christinefrench@skuttcatholic.com) to sign up or get more information. Adoration will run daily from November to May when we have school:

• Mondays - over lunchtime  (need help 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)

• Tuesdays - 7:30 - 8:30 a.m.

• Wednesdays - 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. 

• Thursdays - 3 - 4 p.m. (could use a second parent)

• Friday - over lunchtime
