What we're up to: Students are reviewing place value concepts to the billions place, including writing numbers in standard form, word form (number name), and expanded form. This will help students strengthen their understanding of decimals to the thousandths place. Students will compare and order whole numbers and decimals, before diving into operations with decimals: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

A look back: Students worked on converting customary units of measurement, including length, capacity (volume), and weight. Students made snack mix and holiday punch, and measured different objects (and students!) in the classroom to practice converting measurements.
