Coding with Scratch:
Statements, Booleans and Loops, oh my. Students learn the fundamentals of Computational Thinking and how to apply it in the context of game design with the MIT designed coding program, Scratch.
Below are two of our first four Scratch tutorials that students use to learn the basics of Scratch.
Tutorial 1 introduces students to the Scratch interface and gets Scratchy to draw a shape for us.
Tutorial 2 introduces some more basic features as we take our dog for a walk!
After students complete the first four tutorials they go on to learn more about programming by actually coding games! We use the Super Scratch Programming Adventure as our text. Here is a short video showing some of the games we learn to code.
