Dates

Aug 19-21: Mon-Wed--Mullenix Ridge Jump Start to Kindergarten.
Aug 21: Wed--5:30-6:30 Kindergarten Parent Orientation Meeting (Students do not need to attend).
August 26: Monday--Mullenix Ridge Ice Cream Social/Meet the Teacher. 5:00-6:30. Classrooms are open the first hour.
August 27: Tues--First day of School for Grades 1-12
August 27-29: Tues-Thur: Individual Kindergarten Parent Meetings--No School for Kindergartners. (30 minutes)
Aug 30: Fri--No School
Sept 2: Mon--No School--Labor Day

Sept 3-6: Tues-Fri--Slow Start for Kindergarten--Your child will attend either on an A (Tuesday/Thursday) or B day (Wednesday/Friday).
Sept 9: Mon--Normal every day school schedule for kindergarten begins.

August Practice: Lunch Box Management

During the month of August, pack your child's lunch box and have your child practice eating lunch. Teach your child how to open containers/yogurts/etc, how to take out just what he/she is eating (rather than spread everything out on the table) and how to eat 'quickly.' We have 20 minutes for lunch before going to recess. If sending a lunch, we recommend sending two to three items rather than lots of items--ironically, less choice means your child will eat more. Also, teach your child how to clean up after eating. He/she can put all items back in the lunch box (empty bags, etc) which is helpful so parents know what/how much was eaten. We also have trash cans available. Most kids just pile everything (except liquids) back in the lunchbox to get to recess faster and not wait in the trash line.

Hot lunch can be purchased. We recommend setting up a lunch account so your child doesn't have to manage money. Information is on the district website and more information will come home at the start of school. If eligible, you may apply for the Free and Reduced lunch program through the Meal Application link.

August Practice: Five-Point Harness

Drop off and pick up (for those not riding the bus) does not allow for parents to get out of the car while curbside. (You can park and walk your child across the cross walk but most parents do not want to do this.) Have your child practice getting in and out of the car, opening the car door independently and learning to buckle independently.

School Supplies

Please see the Supply List on the school's website. You can bring your child's school supplies to school at the ice cream social, during the parent meeting or the first week of school.

Label jackets and sweatshirts with your child's name (at least last name)--those often get lost during recess.

8:15: School Doors Open/Breakfast Opens

8:25: Classroom Doors Open

8:35: School Starts (Students are considered tardy after this bell)

3:10: Dismissal

Late Start Wednesday:

Teachers have a Wednesday morning meeting from 8:05-9:05 every Wednesday except for half days.

9:10: Classroom Doors Open
