About Osnovna sola Venclja Perka

The school OŠ Venclja Perka is located in Domžale, a town in central Slovenia, which is about 15 km from Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. With 650 pupils and 58 teachers it is the third largest school in Domžale.

 Pupils at the school are aged 6 to 15 and receive primary education upon completing the program after nine years of schooling. They then continue their education at secondary/vocational or grammar schools.

The school is well equipped with ICT technology. It has a large library, three gyms and two outdoor playgrounds. There is also a school canteen where snacks and lunches are available.

Ecological and environmental topics are of high importance at our school. Each year, we organize events and initiatives to promote ecological awareness. These include actions to keep the school surroundings clean and save, separate and recycle waste, reduce the amounts of discarded food, do voluntary work, as well as participate in various projects:

About Slovenian schools

In the first three years, pupils have the following subjects: Slovenian, maths, English, environmental education, art, music and PE. 

In higher grades pupils also learn science, geography, history, biology, chemistry, physics, home economics, and social studies. 

In the last three years, pupils have to choose one or two extra subjects. They can choose from more than 20 compulsory elective subjects, including a second foreign language (German or Spanish), computing skills, drama club, journalism, additional chemistry and environmental education lessons, sports, and many more.
