Our project utilises the Skills Builder Partnership’s Universal Framework, the leading global standard for building essential skills. This Framework provides a shared language and a rigorous methodology for developing the highly transferable skills that underpin success in education, employment, and life.
To ensure we build these skills with rigour, the Framework deconstructs eight essential skills into a sequence of 16 teachable, measurable steps. This granular structure allows us to assess current competency, target specific development areas, and measure tangible progress over time. By consolidating the array of different national and global frameworks, it is the most comprehensive and practical tool for essential skills. A review of the framework demonstrates its standing as the most complete and relevant framework for everyone to build the essential skills to succeed.
We specifically target the eight essential skills defined by the Framework:
Listening: The receiving, retaining, and processing of information
Speaking: The oral transmission of information or ideas.
Problem Solving: The ability to find a solution to a situation or challenge.
Creativity: The use of imagination and the generation of new ideas.
Adapting: The ability to overcome challenges and setbacks to achieve goals.
Planning: The ability to set clear, tangible goals and design routes achieving them.
Leadership: Supporting, encouraging, and developing others to achieve a shared goal.
Teamwork: Working cooperatively with others towards achieving a shared goal.
