I am thrilled that my third grade class has 1:1 Chromebook access in the classroom. The Chromebooks will be used to enhance and differentiate student learning and allow for students to reinforce math skills, build vocabulary and fluency in reading, and review social studies, science, and religion concepts. What a wonderful opportunity for our students! Below is a list of some of the sites our students will be using to enhance their learning in the classroom. Parents may also choose to allow their child to use these programs at home to reinforce classroom learning.

Xtramath- (xtramath.org) A math fact fluency program that helps students master addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. Recalling basic facts quickly and easily frees up mental resources for more complex problem solving.

Prodigy- (prodigygame.com) Prodigy is a free, adaptive math game for grades 1-7 that integrates New York State Common Core math into a role-playing game using student-created avatars. Students complete math questions to level up and ultimately defeat Crios, Prodigy's main antagonist. Mrs. Gawlik creates assignments for students to complete based on our math units of study and can also create assignments to prepare for the NYS Math assessment.

Quizlet- (quizlet.com) Quizlet is a site that provides learning tools that Mrs. Gawlik creates to reinforce our third grade curriculum. Here, students can find our reading vocabulary words as well as review sets for social studies, science, and religion. This is a free site that students and parents may use also to create their own custom study sets.

Spelling City- (spellingcity, com) Spelling City is a site that students can use to practice our weekly spelling words. Each week, I will have our spelling words available for students on this site. They can take practice tests and play games to prepare for their spelling test.

IXL- (ixl.com) This site's name comes from "I excel". It is a subscription- based math & language arts practice website for K-12. St. John Vianney has a subscription to this website for students. It has unlimited questions on thousands of math and ELA topics and a comprehensive reporting system. Questions are administered one at a time, in a fun and interactive environment. Students are notified if they are right or wrong immediately after submitting an answer. This program offers individualized and comprehensive instruction and practice that is aligned with NYS ELA and math standards and testing as well as our Journeys and My Math textbooks.
