Orchestra is open to students of all grade levels who are learning violin, viola, cello, and/or double bass. This year, three levels of orchestra are offered: Intermezzo, String, and Chamber.
Intermezzo Orchestra (4th period) is a non-auditioned class, and all students are welcome regardless of their level of experience. Students will focus on the fundamental skills of playing their instrument, ear-training, reading music, and rehearsing and performing in an ensemble.
String Orchestra (2nd Period) is an auditioned class for advanced students. Students will work on more extended techniques on their instrument, such as shifting, vibrato, various bowing styles, and improve their sight-reading skills and understanding of music theory. Students will rehearse and perform as an ensemble regularly throughout the year.
Chamber Orchestra (3rd period) is an auditioned class open to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who also have had at least one year of experience in a Lincoln orchestra. Students will develop musical skills, senses, and leadership that enables them to rehearse and perform without a conductor. Students will rehearse and perform as an ensemble regularly throughout the year.
