Mariachi

Mariachi is open to students of all grade levels learning violin, trumpet, guitar, vihuela, and/or guitarron. Vocalists are welcome to join but will also be expected to learn how to play one of these instruments. All students in Mariachi are expected to sing as a group and select students will be invited to sing as soloists. This year, two levels of Mariachi are offered: 

Mariachi 1-2 (Mariachi Azul y Oro)  is a non-auditioned class and all students are welcome regardless of their level of experience. Students will focus on the fundamental skills of playing their instrument, ear-training, reading music, and rehearsing and performing in an ensemble. All students will be learning an instrument as well as singing. 

Mariachi 3-4 (Mariachi de los Leones) is an auditioned class for advanced students. Students will work on more extended techniques on their instrument, improve their sight-reading skills, and expand their repertoire. Students will rehearse and perform as an ensemble regularly throughout the year. All students will be learning an instrument as well as singing, with opportunities for soloists to perform.
