Dr. Margaret Scott is a member of the religious congregation of Sacred Heart of Jesus. She is a published author and experienced facilitator. Sister Margaret was an adjunct professor of theology at Saint Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, USA., for 12 years and Director of the Ignatian Leadership Program from 2016. Her book The Eucharist and Social Justice. (Paulist Press, 2009) is now translated into Spanish and is used in Catholic universities internationally. Her latest book: Gospel Women at the United Nations, was published in March, 2019.
Sr. Margaret is also a very experienced spiritual director and retreat giver, and regularly gives talks and workshops. In July, 2019, she gave two workshops and participated in a Round Table discussion in a Symposium in Loyola, Spain, on Psychology and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. In August she gave the keynote conference at the Provincial Chapter of the Sisters of Sainte Union, in Dublin. In 2020-22 she gave retreats and direction at the London Jesuit Centre. She was also a guest retreat giver at St, Bueno’s, Jesuit Retreat Center in Wales, UK.
Sister Margaret also writes regularly for a variety of magazines including The Way, Manresa and Testimonio. She is now engaged in writing a book on the ecological dimensions of the Spiritual Exercises. She is also noted as an international presenter. She was an International Visiting Fellow at Georgetown University. Her leadership portfolio includes having served as President of the Conference of Religious in England and Wales and Vice-President of the European Union of Conferences of Major Religious Superiors, focused on international issues of importance to the European community and the Church.She is currently the President of UNANIMA International, an NGO at the UN.
With a Doctorate of Ministry in public theology from Lutheran Theological Seminary, an M.A. in International Relations from Webster University(USA), Sister Margaret also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Classics, from London University.
