There are three types of AI usage.  Your professor will determine which type of AI will be allowed for their courses.  Please be sure to read your syllabus carefully!!!

• Permissive  - The professor has decided to embrace AI as a tool.  Students will be permitted to use AI tools on any exam or project in this course.  However proper citation and recognition of the use of AI needs to be included as part of the papers, projects, exams, and other products of the course.  The proper citation structure for the use of ChatGPT and other AI tools in a publication typically follows the standard guidelines for citing software or digital resources. Here's a general format for citing AI tools like ChatGPT.

• Prescriptive -  The professor has decided to allow the use of AI tools for some course assignments/activities.  However proper citation and recognition of the use of AI needs to be included as part of the papers, projects, exams, and other products of the course.  The proper citation structure for the use of ChatGPT and other AI tools in a publication typically follows the standard guidelines for citing software or digital resources. • Restrictive - The professor has decided to prohibit the use of AI for their class.  Use of AI for this course would fall under Plagiarism.
