By recreating the sitemap there were redundancies found in two sections of the Library tabs.
Suggest to minimize the overlapping sites to allow for other resources to be available on the main library navigation.
On the Miller Nichols Library webpage, it would be beneficial to see a map of the school library showing each floor, what is on each floor, and where it is located. Towards the top of the page there should be a navigational menu of important information that includes: The Marr sound archives, University Archives, LaBudde Special Collections, Music and Media Library, Reserve a Study Room, and a drop down menu titled Student Resources or Library Resources. This drop down menu would include links to desirable webpages such as: the digital collaboration studio, computer lab, writing lab, front desk help, research librarian, guest access, library tour videos for new students found currently on the "About us" page, the robot cafe, and more if wanted. We have included a sketch of what the final product would look like.
Make the library website's search bar more noticeable. Often users want to search for library spaces/destinations directly.
In the Locations tab on the homepage make it clear that Miller Nichols Library is the main campus library.
Change Locations tab on the homepage to only include physical locations found on campus. The four destinations that are found in the main library should be included in the Miller Nichols Library webpage.
Update library floor maps to reflect similar information and to be consistent in design. (Multiple library floor maps showed differing information.)
New student orientation information that shares pertinent library info should be easily accessible on the Library homepage or Miller Nichols Library page for Transfer students or students that start late in the semester.
Category Grouping
Regrouping sections of the navigation to include more student/ user navigation for quick access or combine more similar resources to create a minimum of 3 levels to get to the resource. Also, minimize the university navigation to a simpler form and combine items.
Item Labeling
Renaming the Main library or adding to the tab to indicate the area. Including a location tab with information from the main library and its resources would improve site findability.
Homepage redesigns prototype sketches have been included to help find different ways to reformat some main areas such as the navigation bars and the content of the page to be separated into 2 -3 areas to improve the flow of the site. It also includes different links based on simpler categories.
For future testing, we recommend conducting another round of user flowcharts to assess how users continue to navigate the site and search for information. As well as conducting interviews and surveys be conducted to gather the general feeling that users have after recommendations have been implemented.
