Welcome!

I'm a geomorphologist with a wide range of interests across a variety of spatial scales, from exploring how individual raindrops disturb soil particles to investigating the geomorphic evolution of mountain ranges. My general fields of interest include coastal erosion, rivers, slope stability, post-fire erosion, the causes and consequences of rockfall, the toxic legacy of hydraulic mining during the Gold Rush, glacial erosion, and the geologic evolution of the Sierra Nevada. I am always looking for enthusiastic and motivated graduate students, regardless of academic background. Take a look at my MS Projects page to get an idea of the type of research conducted by my students and potential projects. My MS students typically graduate having acquired a range of marketable skills including GIS and programming and encounter few difficulties in finding gainful employment in a variety of fields (including the tech industry). In addition, most students who work with me are awarded 2 years of TA support worth $11,600/yr and full tuition waivers.
