About Our Group

Mission Statement

“ As a group, we hope to help expand the current understanding of the physical and chemical properties of nuclei far from stability. In pursuing this goal, we must be mindful to:

  • welcome all who are scientifically curious. We want all members believe in diversity, and expanding the opportunities of those who’ve been historically excluded or marginalized in the physical sciences and society.

  • always remember each person comes with their own history, personality, and goals. We need to be kind, respectful, and supportive; and we expect other members to treat us in kind.

  • listen to other, and make sure all voices are heard. We expect all members to treat each other with equity in mind.

  • actively reject any and all forms of discrimination, exclusionary behaviors, or systems that perpetuate inequity.

And we must be ready to address any challenges to this mission by being responsible to one another, and to Dr. Esker. When we feel someone has challenged these priorities, we should bring them to Dr. Esker so they can be honestly engaged with. And, if we feel like it was not properly addressed, reach out to the Chemistry Chair or Dean of Science."
