October is upon us! It is a beautiful month! We are able to celebrate so many things! We just love to celebrate!!!
This month we celebrate the Rosary with our Mother Mary. We get to reflect on this beautiful form of prayer. We also celebrate our Guardian Angels, many saints such as St. Francis of Assisi, St. Ignatius of Antioch, St. Luke, St. John Paul II, and the apostles Sts. Simon and Jude. Finally, we celebrate All Hallow's Eve, the Vigil of All Saints Day.
This month also focuses on Fire Prevention. Our local fire department will be sending volunteers over to show us their fire engines and talk to the students about the ins and outs of fire fighting. They will also talk about fire safety and discuss what plans the students have at home for fire escapes.
St. Joseph School Staff will be serving at the Banquet on Oct. 16th. Look for a letter coming home on what you can do to help. The Banquet is a non-profit that puts on free suppers for those in need every Thursday. Businesses around the community sign up for a Thursday to help out.
Conferences will be held this month. On October 9th from 7:30am-6pm, parents are welcomed to sign up for a time to come talk to their child's teacher(s). There will not be school on Oct. 10th or Oct. 13th. The latter is due to celebrating Native American Day.
Our 3rd graders will be receiving their Bibles this month on Friday, Oct. 24th at the All School Mass. Please join us! The Bibles are a donation from the Madden family. Barb Madden loved her faith and the school. Her husband Dave has been donating the Bibles for the past 26 years in her honor.
We will be holding a Costume Bingo on Oct. 28th from 6:30-7:30pm in the lunchroom. Students and family members are encouraged to dress up in costume.
Students are welcomed to wear costumes to school for a Halloween Party at 2:15. We do ask that they do not wear anything scary or gory. It will be a fun time to celebrate those that have gone before us.
Like I said, full of celebrations!!!
