Last August 18, 2016, Teekay Shipping Philippines and Saint Joseph Institute of Technology made a partnership agreement on cadetship program requirement, bringing forth of the Future Leaders Program.
For the span of two years, FLP has been successful in dispatching motivated cadets boarding the international vessels of Teekay. Cadets who were product of the program did not just finish their onboard training safely and efficiently but were able to achieve recognition of being an operational leader- globally. Considering the remarks that the program had received, it’s no accident it became successful. A lot of hard work, perseverance, sacrifice, learning, studying and most of all loving of what the training program has been undertaken.
What does it mean being in the FLP?
In all the activities that FLP has been involved, it’s always been guided by the Teekay’s core values:

It’s not just mere words, rather we live on it. From simple morning fitness and cleaning routines to the training activities, everything we do, we always consider safety and making sure that it is consistent. We are enjoying and take pride on jobs well done. We value trust and honesty. We pursue new thinking, support change and encourage others to do the same. We strive to constantly learn and improve. We work together and value cooperation.
We are on a journey.
Learning is a continuous process, same goes for FLP. Every activities and learnings being practiced under the program are considered preparations befitting to become future leaders. Facilitators and cadets are both learners and teachers. Each of us has unique stories to share and exciting experiences to unfold, hence WE are on a journey.
