A “short court style” is something that exerts lesser efforts but with an undiscounted impression. An act of connecting emotions with considerations of what might happen next. Behind that idea is the word “appreciation” that fuels someone's imaginative mind grinding for more.
On the 14th of February 2020, V-Ships crewing agency together with its top client, the International Seaways (INSW) set foot again in Saint Joseph Institute of Technology — Maritime Education and Training (SMET) campus to experience the Oz Goose sailboats. The Balangay Sailing Club (BSC) was on the move to cater Captain Dante C. Bo, Regional Training Head for V-ships management with Chief Engineer Cesar Rubio, Owner Representative of International Seaways and three INSW cadets who were alumni of the institution.
Dignitaries exclaimed their thoughts as they indulged in such a water sport with the lively dinghies.
“On a scale of 1 to 10, my excitement is blazing at 9.9,” Capt. Bo said. Also, Chief Engineer Rubio proudly shared his experience on sailing and said it was his first time to sail with Oz Goose.
The challenge was how they would use this activity to promote the school and give a positive impression with the sailing class. Before the actual sailing, the skipper of the club, E/C Renz Kivin Ramasasa, discussed the basics and safety — which is the top priority.
Looking through the binoculars, everyone on the shore was at absolute joy seeing the visitors having fun. Watching them almost fading away in everyone's optical horizon marked how connected they were to the ocean. It was like they share a single heart!
As they went back, everyone aboard stomped their feet with joy. In addition, Capt. Bo finally offered his 0.1 rating, making it a perfect ten! Together with C/E Rubio’s statement, they concluded it as a very great experience and looked forward to being with the team soon.
At the end of the activity, everyone brought with them invaluable experience portraying the competence and hospitality of cadets in accepting guests with pride. As the core values of SJIT say, “We demonstrate love of God, country and fellowmen with commitment and integrity for excellence in the service to humanity.“
