At this time, a few generative AI tools can be used and accessed with your Fisher account or are available within already supported Fisher technologies. These AI tools have been reviewed for safety and data privacy by OIT and the prompts you enter will not be used outside of our organization. Therefore, these tools are listed below as protected generative AI tools for use by faculty, staff, and students at Fisher. There are many other generative AI tools that can only be accessed via personal account creation outside the systems and infrastructure that Fisher maintains and supports. You must evaluate if you want to create an account on these platforms and if you are comfortable sharing any of your own personal information necessary to create the account. When using any generative AI tool for any Fisher related activities, please make sure to follow all guidance provided on the How Do I Stay Safe When Using AI? page, including not entering any personal or University protected data into a generative AI platform that has not been protected by Fisher.
Copilot is part of our enterprise solution package with Microsoft. Copilot is powered by the OpenAI large language model GPT 4. Depending on your desired outcome, you can choose from a creative, precise, or balanced conversation style and you can use CoPilot to create images for you via its connection with Dall-E 3 from OpenAI.
You can access Copilot from any major web browser, including Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge. Go to https://copilot.microsoft.com/ to begin using this tool. This is the same for desktops/laptops and iPads/phones. You must be logged in with your Fisher account in order to ensure the data you enter into Copilot is protected under our Fisher licensing. This means the data is not used outside our organization to train the large language model overall. Therefore, it is safe to enter personal or University data, as long as you are logged in when using Copilot. To make sure you are logged in, verify you see your name and the protected indicator in the upper right corner. Need help logging in? Contact the OIT Service Desk (585-385-8016 or oitservicedesk@sjf.edu) for assistance.
When you are uploading files using the paperclip icon within your prompt with Copilot, there are limits you need to be aware of. Each file must be no larger than 10 Mb and the total file size for all the files you upload over the course of one day must be no larger than 2Gb.
Visit the DePeters Family Center Copilot documentation page for assistance with using Copilot.
Gemini can be accessed directly from the Gemini website (https://gemini.google.com/app) from any major browser, including Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge. This is the same for desktops/laptops and iPads/phones. Gemini is accessible through our Google for Education licensing. You must be logged in with your Fisher account in order to ensure the data you enter into Gemini is protected under our Fisher licensing. This means the data is not used outside our organization to train the large language model overall. Therefore, it is safe to enter personal or University data, as long as you are logged in when using Gemini. To make sure you are logged in, verify you see your name in the upper right corner of the window and your Fisher email appears when you hover over that location. Need help logging in? Contact the OIT Service Desk (585-385-8016 or oitservicedesk@sjf.edu) for assistance. Learn more about Gemini.
