Introductory Webinar
This 25-minute session provides an overview of the Data Use Self-Assessment. During this session you’ll learn about the format and structure of the Data Use Self-Assessment and the companion resources in the Data Use Self-Assessment toolkit.
Train the Facilitator
This 57-minute session is focused on supporting your success in facilitating the Data Use Self-Assessment with a team. Time is spent discussing the composition of the team and how and when you can use the Data Use Self-Assessment within existing structures. A review of decision points is completed including in person and virtual options. And finally, facilitation strategies are described that will leave you comfortable and confident in your ability to use the Data Use Self-Assessment with a team.
Improving Data Quality Using the Data Use Self-Assessment
A session on improving data quality using the Data Use Self-Assessment was presented at the 2022 California Educational Research Association conference. Resources available from this session include the slide deck, a sample data quality improvement plan, a focused set of Data Use Self-Assessment elements that are most relevant to data quality improvement, and a worksheet for defining and assigning data stewards.
Leveraging the Data Use Self-Assessment to Support LEA Improvement Work
Presented at the Curriculum and Improvement Support Committee (CISC) conference in 2024, this session described the four components of the DUSA and how to facilitate it with district/school teams. COE teams from Sacramento and Imperial County discussed their successful and impactful use of the DUSA with district teams as part of the Differentiated Assistance process. The Imperial County Office of Education adapted the DUSA for their Differentiated Assistance work and created Google Sheets-based tools for both single-site and multi-site LEAs.

Improving Data Quality with the Data Use Self-Assessment
This webinar was held June 2024 for the California Educational Research Association. This session focuses on the importance of data quality and how to get started when identifying data quality problems and working toward improvements. A subset of Data Use Self-Assessment items can help teams identify some causes of common data quality issues and create manageable and targeted action plans.
