Share Best Practices with Using Tech Tools to Instruct Remotely
Doctor Ruben Puentadura developed the SAMR model. It allows us to think about the ways that technology can be used the classroom. Often what technology is used for already has an analog counterpart with which we are familiar. Sometimes, however, we can used technology to allow students to learn through completely new experiences. The simple substitutions are OK, but we also want to allow new powerful learning experiences.
Learning that occurs as a whole group in real time.
Learning that occurs in small groups or individually at the student’s pace.
This resource from Caitlin Tucker lists building blocks, their objectives, and tools that you can use for asynchronous and synchronous learning. Look at some of these tools and strategies as you plan a lesson.
This resource lists teacher subroutines along with tools that we can use to facilitate them. We do not want to imply that teachers should try to use all these tools, but rather that you can find a tool that will work for a desired activity and then master that tool.
These three signature practices can help integrate SEL practices into any meeting to promote community-building and deeper engagement.
