Lessons learned from distance learning
Do not underestimate the power of social and emotional learning. Developing relationships with my kiddos was instrumental in getting their buy in. I praised them daily for showing up and participating.
One important takeaway was that educators are all different. I enjoyed working with educators from different schools. We all share the same goals.
Online small groups work. Teacher collaboration is key to success. Getting students comfortable with collaborating will lead to success.
Learning a few different tools that will be useful to me. (Seesaw, Wakelet, 3-Act Tasks).
Students are more engaged when they are given problem-solving and inquiry tasks rather than telling them how to do something, followed by worksheets.
