Social engineering doesn't work because people are foolish. It works because people are human. Social engineers exploit the same psychological building blocks that allow us to develop relationships with others, make decisions quickly, trust our instincts, and navigate an increasingly complex world. In this session, we'll explore the human OS through the lenses of psychology, behavioral economics, and cybersecurity. Drawing on the work of researchers like Daniel Kahneman and Robert Cialdini, and using interactive examples, attendees will learn how the brain's software can be leveraged to manipulate the way we think, feel, and act. By understanding the mental building blocks behind influence, trust, and decision-making, attendees will leave better equipped to recognize manipulation, challenge assumptions, and build stronger defenses against human hacking.
