Senior Goodbye
By: Grey Brady
Time is ticking as Saint Joe's seniors count down the days to graduation. From today May 3rd there are three days till the last school day and 13 days from graduation. This is a time of reflection and personal growth for our seniors as they enter the new chapter of their lives.
Senior Joseph Reinheart has big plans for next year. Joe will be attending the University of Miami (Ohio). When asked what interests Joe about this school he says, “When I first visited Miami, the first thing that caught my eye was the campus layout. Many of the colleges I visited were hard to navigate and find your way around. Miami's campus was the complete opposite. I was able to easily figure out where I was, and where I needed to go. The town being so close to the campus was another plus.” He also enjoys having a small town nearby, eliminating the need for a car for transportation.
What interested him most in this school was the Farmer school of business. Joe has plans of majoring in marketing and the Farmers school of business offered a great marketing program with an amazing curriculum. “I want to go into marketing, and the curriculum Miami offered was amazing. The classes I would take also would allow me to get my graduate's degree, and master's degree in 4 years.”
Joe is involved in many things here at St Joe’s, being the student council president, a collegiate ambassador, a part of the Presidential Committee, and the co-president of Food Basket. As we enter the last few weeks of our Time at St Joe’s Joe is looking forward to spending the most time possible with his St Joe’s Brothers. “ I wouldn't be where I am today without them, and I want to spend as much time as I can with them, Also spending time with the kids I'm not as close to. Making sure to include as many people in the fun things we will be doing these next couple of weeks, and making as many memories as I can.” When asked what his favorite memory is from his time at St Joe’s was Joe responds “My favorite memory here at St. Joe's is probably the State Championship hockey game. Although I don't play hockey, it was such an awesome experience to see all my friends win State.”
Senior Blake Pyc is also counting down the days till graduation. Blake is planning on attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville next year. He explains his interest in the school for having an amazing campus with “an atmosphere I have never seen before.” He is also planning on majoring in architecture and was drawn into the University of Tennessee’s highly awarded architecture program. “ I chose architecture as my major because I have always been interested in building and designing things since I was little. I look forward to designing houses and spaces inside people’s homes that they will love. It would be so cool to watch the plans you design come to life and watch it being built. and after the building is done, you can sit back and say, “wow i did that” I want to be able to make people love their home as much as I love designing the home.”
As the end nears Blake is “ looking forward to getting closer with my brothers and enjoying the last few weeks we all have together. I think these are the best weeks to get closer with your brothers and make some great memories.”
Blake has been involved in many things at Joe’s some of which include being a part of the rowing team, being a collegiate ambassador, participating in track and field, being an intern in the advancement office, National Honors Society, Ski Club, and many religious retreats sponsored through St Joe's campus ministry.
When asked what Blake's favorite memory is from St Joe’s he explains his Kairos 36 trip and how life changing this experience truly is. “My favorite memory from Joe’s is definitely when I got on the Kairos 36 trip. Between learning how to love and respect myself and becoming closer with people I never expected, it will be an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.”
Senior Charles Hawthorn has high hopes for next year, as he will be attending SUNY Geneseo while majoring in finance. When asked what interested him in finance he responded I have always had an interest in math and felt I have always been good in math. I am also interested in money and managing it”.
When touring the Geneseo campus, Charlie enjoyed how the campus looked and the various courses Geneseo has to offer. He has been on the rowing team all four years at St Joes and is looking into the Geneseo Club Crew Team.
As the final days go by Charlie is excited for graduation day. He is excited to finally show all the work he has put in for the last four years. He also looks forward to spending the last weeks with his friends and classmates.
The St Joes Senior class of 2024 will be graduating on May 16.
