Greetings Parents and Students,

I am delighted to introduce myself as one of the school counselors for students in TK-8th grade at San Jose Charter Academy. My name is Viviana Moreno, and I am passionate about supporting every student's social, emotional, and academic well-being. In addition to being a school counselor, I am also the Foster & Homeless Liaison, Student Attendance Advisor, and Builders Club Advisor at SJCA.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Cal Poly Pomona and a Master of Arts in Education Counseling with a PPS Credential from Azusa Pacific University. I bring seven years of experience in the field of education and counseling. My journey as a school counselor has been deeply rewarding, and I am committed to fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment for our students.

I aim to create a safe, nurturing space where students feel heard, supported, and empowered to overcome obstacles. I am here to serve as a resource for both parents and students. Please feel free to reach out if you have any concerns or questions or want to schedule a meeting. Collaboration between parents, teachers, and the counseling team is essential for the success and well-being of our students.

I am thrilled to be a part of the SJCA community and look forward to working together to ensure a positive and enriching experience for every student.

Warm regards,

Viviana Moreno

Greetings to each and every one of you!

My name is Pati de la Torre and with more than two decades of dedication to the field of education here at SJCA, I am excited to bring a wealth of knowledge and passion into our counseling program.

I have a BA in Spanish Literature from UC San Diego, M.A. in Education from Azusa Pacific University, and I recently completed the credential program at National University to receive my PPS (Pupil Personnel Services) Credential.

I hope to help students navigate through life's challenges, explore their inner strengths, and discover their potential for positive change. As a counselor, my approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and a genuine desire to foster a safe and non-judgmental space for everyone. I believe in the power of human connection and the strength we gain from supporting one another. I am here to listen, understand, and provide guidance to anyone seeking assistance, whether it's coping with stress, managing relationships, addressing mental health concerns,  pursuing personal growth, academic growth or career planning.

I am excited to be part of such a compassionate and caring group of individuals. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!

Warm regards,

Pati de Torre

Hello SJCA Students & Parents,

My name is Mr. Ciatti, and I am one of the School Counselors. I am excited to start my 1st year as a School Counselor for SJCA, but not the first time I have been here. I attended SJCA when it opened in 1998 and finished 8th grade in 2004. Before becoming a School Counselor, I worked for The County of Los Angeles as a Lake Lifeguard/EMT for seven years. While there, I worked on the swim beach, patrolling in rescue trucks and rescue boats. I also work with the Junior Lifeguard Program as an Instructor and Program Coordinator. I coached Water Polo & Swim for ten years at Covina High School and Walnut High School. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Master of Arts in Educational & Clinical Counseling from Azusa Pacific University. I am excited to be back as a School Counselor and to give students another resource to enhance their academic experience here at SJCA.

Mr. Ciatti

Hello all! I’m Ms. T., and so I’m excited to join the team! I graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelors in Sociology and Masters in School Counseling from USC. Go Trojans!  Previous to school counseling, I worked in the nonprofit sector and in the logistics field. I enjoy traveling near and far. I’m also a foodie so I love to try new places and cuisines. I like going to concerts and baseball games. Go Dodgers! I’m passionate about helping students reach their full potential and building positive relationships. I want to provide support and guidance to students who need help whether it’s academic or social-emotional needs and focus on their overall well-being. I believe that every child has the potential to succeed with the appropriate guidance and support and I am committed to helping all students achieve their full potential.
