About Mr. Astle

I am originally from the suburbs of Pittsburgh, and I attended Serra Catholic High School in McKeesport, PA. I graduated from Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA with a double major in History and Religious Studies-Philosophy, a concentration in Secondary Education, and a Pennsylvania certification for Social Studies, Grades 7-12. While at SFU, I worked in Campus Ministry as a lead sacristan, liturgical ministry coordinator, and peer minister.

I live in State College with my wife, Angela, and my children, John Paul and Magdalene ("Maggie"). In my spare time, I enjoy reading and playing video games. My favorite authors in Theology are Scott Hahn, Peter Kreeft, and Brant Pitre. Outside of Theology, I like to read about submarines from World War II and the Cold War. I love the Star Wars movies, but my favorite movie overall is Jurassic Park. I am powered by a continuous stream of coffee.

I am excited to be at Saint Joseph's for my eighth year, and I can't wait to see what this year brings!
