Begin IXL-students were given individual usernames and passwords for their IXL accounts. This is an amazing program to help strengthen old skills, and introduce new. It will also give them practice for the standardized tests as they are moving to computer based. They will have several IXL assignments a week. Please let me know if your student does not have access to a computer/phone or tablet at home, so we can work something else out.

Once they have their levels they will be working individually for 10-15 minutes at the beginning of each class to build their individual areas. They were all given their usernames and passwords and can log in at:

We are working hard this year to help students take responsibility for their things, organization, homework and learning. We will be asking more difficult questions that require inference and thought beyond facts. They will also be writing in their planner everyday, and will start having planner checks. You can help them by asking them to show you their planner, and having discussions about the class material. Ask deeper questions, that you can search for together!

We are starting conduct points next week. Students will get 20 conduct points at the beginning of the week. If they have forgotten their supplies, homework, water bottle etc. they will lose a conduct point. They will also lose conduct points for behavior issues. In addition they can earn conduct points for having work done consistently, helping each other, working well together etc. We practiced this week, and the first day we had a total of about 40 points lost between the 2 classes, all for forgetting things. By Friday, we had 5:). They are quick learners!
