Our How

Religious Education in Catholic Schools plays a significant role in the learning and lives of our tamariki. Our teachers create well planned, engaging and integrated learning experiences that provide effective ways of sharing faith in which we, as a Church, believe. They also reinforce that faith is a gift that comes from God: it is not our mahi to create faith but to support, model and nurture its growth in our tamariki, community and parish. Our religious education provides opportunities for children to experience and grow in faith.

Religious education provides a foundation of knowledge which works alongside and within the schools special character. This helps form an understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and a member of the Catholic Church; it is about learning what the Catholic Church believes and teaches.

The Religious Education curriculum acknowledges the principles of the Te Tiriti o te Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi, valuing and reflecting the bicultural foundations of Aotearoa. Tamariki will acquire knowledge of the te reo Maori me ona tikanga within the context of the curriculum. The conceps of Mara, Whakamana and Manaakitanga are woven through our curriculum. These important ideals are founded through our connections with Parihaka. Parihaka xxxxxx
