This topic inspired the workshops. In the firts workshop we dedicated two days to think collectively a mural for the galsses of the school stairs. The mural had to be based on the meaning of the words HOME and TOMORROW.

The idea, the plan, the structure, the homework
1) The idea:
Refugees - the important theme for European countries since 2015 until today.
What is their situation in their home countries? Which experiences did they made on their way to Europe? And how different is the situation in the societies of Latvia, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Germany?
2) The plan:
The Erasmus+ - Meeting of different schools from six European countries offers various possibilities: We can compare the situation in each country. We can get knowledges about the different situations. We’ll get in a personal contact with younger refugees, living in the region of Löningen. We can work together, expressing our ideas, thoughts and dreams about the future in different works of art.
We can show them to the public, outside and inside our school, the results are offered on the homepage and with presentations in public buildings e.g. like the town-hall.
3) The structure:
The meeting will start on a Sunday afternoon at the “CGL”. Each national group has the chance to present itself on a big screen. Afterwards, the homework with the title “Home” is shown in front of the whole audience.
From Monday to Thursday, the students will work together in international groups in various creative styles. The different subjects and the time-table will show all the details of this week, including the cooperation with primary schools, young refugees, an evening with presentations and discussions with persons, who are involved in the work with refugees. A half-day trip, visiting the historical quarter of Osnabrück, the “City of peace”, and a farewell-party with students, parents, teachers and an international show-program is added to the working-phases.
4) The homework for our guests:
a) Present your group, your school and your town!
b) The situation of refugees in your country since 2015 until today. Prepare a screen with photos and news and a PowerPointPresentation (max.10 min.)!
c) No joke! Each member of the national groups is demanded to bring a broken cup or a plate to Löningen! We need it for a so called “action”, inspired by the exihibition “Dream come true” (Yoko Ono) at MALBA, Buenos Aires, October 2016.
d) Take a (macro-) photo of certain thing, which represents “Home” for you and print it out (DIN A4)! (1 student = 1 photo)

Sobre su exposición „Dream come true“, Yoko Ono, otoño 2016
Estimadas señoras y señores:
En octubre del año pasado visitamos a nuestra hija Juliana que vive en Buenos Aires desde más que dos años. Durante nuestra estadía de dos semanas participamos en una visita guiada por la ciudad que incluía también la visita del MALBA. Ahí vimos la exposición ya mencionada y nos quedamos impresionados especialmente de la instalación: ¡Pieza Reparación!
Más tarde – ya de vuelta en Alemania – se me ocurrió incluir esta instalación en un encuentro de un proyecto con participación europea en nuestro colegio. Bajo el lema “Home and tomorrow: Tell me your story – Let’s share our dreams!“ nos reunimos y trabajamos durante una semana a finales de enero. Tratábamos la problemática de los refugiados en Europa, más exacto en los 5 países de donde vinieron los participantes: Letonia, Italia, Finlandia, Holanda y España. Pedimos a los alumnos a representar la situación en sus países a través de una exposición y una presentación “PowerPoint“. El último día de nuestro encuentro usamos el elemento “Pieza Reparación“: Los alumnos habían traído platos, tazas etc. que rompimos con martillos. Después pusimos los pedazos en 7 cajas distintas – una para cada país de los participantes y una adicional en inglés – junto con la instrucción de trabajo que sacamos del libro sobre la exposición (páginas 90 – 91). También les dejamos lápices y papeles para que sirvieron para anotar sus ideas acerca de la „reparación del mundo“.
Primero los alumnos se quedaron asombrados, depués empezaron el trabajo, intentaron construir y reconstruir y apuntaron sus pensamientos. Las fotos anexadas y una elección de algunas respuestas de los alumnos ponen de manifiesto una intensa elaboración.
Les quiero hacer llegar esta información porque fue su exposición en Buenos Aires la que me inspiró y porque la resonancia de nuestros alumnos y sus resultados fueron realmente impresionante.
