Principle Investigator
Dr. Jie Zheng is a Department Chair and Professor at the Department of Chemical, Biomolecular, and Corrosion Engineering at the University of Akron. He began his independent career as a tenured-track Assistant Professor in October, 2007. He was promoted to Associate Professor (2012), Full Professor (2016), Associate Chair of graduate studies (2018-2021), and Department Chair (2021). In 2015, he was elected as a fellow at Institute for Life-Span Development & Gerontology, became a adjunct professor of Integrated Bioscience in 2018 and Polymer Engineering in 2019.

Yijing Tang (PhD, female) received her B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Engineering in 2018 and M.S in Polymer Science from the University of Akron in 2020. She joined the Zheng group in 2020. Her current research focuses on membrane-associated peptides in human diseases.

Lirong Cai (PhD, female) received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University. She will work on the computational disease-related proteins and biomaterials.
Zhiyong Li (Ph.D) will work on computational study of polymers, hydrogels, and peptides.
