About me
I am the William and Wendy Korb Early Career Professor (Associate Professor) in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. I am also affiliated with the Larson Transportation Institute, the Center for Socially Responsible Artificial Intelligence (CSRAI), and the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI). I earned my Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University at Buffalo in 2017, and my B.S. in Applied Psychology from Zhejiang University in 2011.
My research lies at the intersection of human factors and intelligent transportation systems, with a focus on human-vehicle interaction, trust in technology, human performance modeling, situation awareness, individual differences, and human-machine interface design. My current work addresses the behavioral and cognitive challenges associated with connected and automated vehicle systems, aiming to inform the design of safer and more effective transportation technologies. My work has been supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, and the WisDOT.
I currently serve as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems and as a member of the Editorial Board for Human Factors and Ergonomics in Manufacturing & Service Industries. I have also held leadership roles within the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), including Technical Group Chair and Program Chair of the Human Performance Modeling Technical Group (HPMTG), as well as Vice Program Chair of the Surface Transportation Technical Group (STTG). In 2022, I was honored to receive the Stephanie Binder Young Professional Award.
