Leaf Composting Process
1. Segregate leaf waste from bigger garden waste
2. Create pits on ground level but not very deep. Preferably in a shaded area. Around 2-3 feet on ground level on open ground. Pit is not necessary. In case digging pit is not possible, just pile on the ground is good. If there is shortage of open space, go for leaf composters.
3. Every day segregate and dump the leaf waste.
4. Water the pile daily to keep it moist. If it is in open sunlight, cover with jute bags to retain moisture.
5. Add microbes or cow dung slurry once a week
6. No need to cover the pile if it is in shaded area nor mix it.
7. Once a pit is full, start with new pit and leave the first pit for composting. Continue watering the pit which is full just enough to keep it moist.
8. Leaf compost will be ready in 3-4 months.
9. Sieve the compost and Use for gardens
