Kellum Hall officially housed its last students at Florida State this past spring. The hall opened 56 years ago in 1959. To give some context, Kellum Hall opened the year of the first Grammy awards, when Fidel Castro took power, and when Hawaii and Alaska became part of the United States.
Dave Sagaser, Associate Director for Facilities at Florida State said the building “would need a total renovation to remain a viable student housing option.” The building is not being renovated but “…is scheduled to be demolished during the fall of 2015” said Sagaser. The building housed 538 men and women each, that’s over 30,000 students in the building’s lifetime.
So what is going up in place of Kellum Hall? Sagaser said “the future use of the space is currently under review.”

76 INTRODUCTICN [CHAP. To explain the theory of classes, it is necessary first to explain the distinction between extensional and intensional functions. This is effected ‘by the following definitions: The truth-value of a proposition is truth if it is true, and falsehood if it is false. (This expression is due to Frege.) Two propositions are said to be equivalent when they have the same truthvalue, i.e. when they are both true or both false. Two propositional functions are said to beformally equivalent when they are equivalent with every possible argument, i.e. when any argument which satisfies the one satisfies the other, and vice versa.

One day, Korzybski was giving a lecture to a group of students, and he interrupted the lesson suddenly in order to retrieve a packet of biscuits, wrapped in white paper, from his briefcase. He muttered that he just had to eat something, and he asked the students on the seats in the front row if they would also like a biscuit. A few students took a biscuit. “Nice biscuit, don’t you think,” said Korzybski, while he took a second one. The students were chewing vigorously. Then he tore the white paper from the biscuits, in order to reveal the original packaging. On it was a big picture of a dog’s head and the words “Dog Cookies.” The students looked at the package, and were shocked.
Two of them wanted to vomit, put their hands in front of their mouths, and ran out of the lecture hall to the toilet.
“You see,” Korzybski remarked, “I have just demonstrated that people don’t just eat food, but also words, and that the taste of the former is often outdone by the taste of the latter.”
