Welcome to my homepage. I am an Associate Professor of Economics at Sophia University. I am also an Invited Researcher at J-PAL and a board member of JADE.
I will be visiting Foreign Trade University in Hanoi from April 2026 to March 2027, and I am available for seminar/conference presentation anywhere in Southeast Asia.
My research focuses on development economics. I am particularly interested in industrial development, structural transformation, management of private and public organizations, and human capital development. I mostly use primary data and conduct empirical analysis. I have experience collecting primary data in Vietnam, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Tanzania, South Africa, Argentina, and Japan.
My office hours are from 13:00 to 14:00 on Fridays. You can book me here. A reservation is not required, but I prioritize those with a prior reservation.
