Smart materials for structural health monitoring and energy harvesting

Smart materials are used in vibration control, active shape control, structural health monitoring and energy harvesting. These materials have the ability to transduce one form of energy to another which makes them useful as actuators and sensors. In this research, we will demonstrate how multiphysics modeling framework implements it to simulate smart materials that exhibit well-known phenomena such as piezoelectric, piezoresistive, magnetostrictive and shape memory effects.
