About me

I'm a Profesor Titular at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a member of the ICMAT.

I received my degree in mathematics at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Then I moved to Barcelona and in July 2010, I finished my PhD in mathematics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. After obtained my PhD, I was a post-doctoral researcher for two years at the University of Southampon, for six months at the University of Neuchâtel and then NTT assistant professor at Vanderbilt University. I returned to Spain with a Juan de la Cierva- Incorporación - grant, and then I was an Ayudante Doctor at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid

We will be running a seminar in the UAM/ICMAT, please contact me if you want to give a talk. Here is a tentative list of talks.

We are also organizing a 2-day meeting in November: Groups in Madrid 2021

I am a member of the researh team of the Agol Lab at the ICMAT. Our next activity is this school in May 2022

Interests

My research area in mathematics is geometric and combinatorial group theory. I study countable groups with some sort of non-positively curved behavior, like acylindrically hyperbolic groups, one-relator groups or graph products. Some of my recent research concern the connection between formal languages and group theory.
