'For the greater good', 'perverse incentives', and 'artificial scarcity'

A quick dig into our simian anthropocentric predicament

Our rapidly mutating nature has given us a 'comparative advantage' over all other life on earth, however this is a 'dual use' scenario, and we have further to fall. 'Mutually assured destruction' and near limitless energy with hazardous radioactive waste, as an example. What cost to advance?

A concise layout of our problem:

'For the greater good', a rationale for:

- 'Despoliation of Egypt'

- Enslaving Africans to free up Europeans for an industrial revolution

- Eliminating indigenous populations to grow markets and access undeveloped resources

- Dropping atomic bombs on Japan to prevent more bombing in WWII

- Destroying wildlife and nature for agriculture and settlements

'Perverse incentives' :

- Munitions manufacturers need more war to increase arms sales

- Police need crimes to justify their jobs and budgets

- Insurance agents need the possibility of accidents for their services

- Doctors need repeat customers and receive payments from drug companys

- Homebuilders and construction workers need easy mortgage availability for growth

- The 'demographic trend' in developed economies means population shrinkage

- The more educated a woman is, the fewer number of children she has

'Artificial scarcity' doesn't mean that what is rare is precious:

- Increased productivity and efficiency and the price 'deflationary spiral' / glut of goods / 'race to the bottom'

- Jewelry and artworks are intrinsically worthless, but one of a kind means valueable?

- fighting for one God or many Gods that are mythological?

- Selflessness to guide selves to become selfless?

- Are we alone in the universe vs. we are NOT alone on 'our' planet
