Several years ago, I visited a zoo to watch animals. At one point, my attention shifted. Instead of watching the animals in the cages, I found myself watching the people who were watching them. Their faces, expressions, movements, habits, and interactions became just as fascinating as the animals themselves. Since then, I have often found myself observing people in public spaces — shopping centres, streets, stations, and everyday environments. Human Zoo is a simple observational film that invites the viewer to watch ordinary human behaviour with the same curiosity we often reserve for animals in a zoo.
