Work by Barbara Clark-Fleming
Artist statement
I am a self-taught painter who wanted to put my memories on canvas. I enjoy the fluid nature of
painting and prefer an organic approach.I started painting in 1977 to create pictures of my dad's
farm. We had no photos and this was the only way to keep the memories of that farm alive.
I entered my first painting I created in the Oxford County Juried Exhibition and won an Award
of Merit. I still own this painting which I had re-framed by Hunter Framing to preserve it for
future enjoyment. I became a serious painter in 1989 when an accident stopped me from working
outside the home. Now my goal is to paint for my enjoyment and to inspire others with my memories.
Barbara Clark-Fleming lives in Muir, Ontario. Many of her paintings are in collections across Canada,
the USA and Europe. Barbara is also in the Museum of American Folk Art in New York City.
