Wouter Rogiest was born in the city of Ghent, Belgium, in 1980. He received the master's degree in Electrical Engineering in 2004 (Dutch "burgerlijk ingenieur elektrotechniek", see Ghent University archive for Master's thesis) and the PhD degree in Engineering in 2008 (see Ghent University announcement and TELIN Department archive), both from Ghent University, Belgium. Since October 2004, he has been with the Department of Telecommunications and Information Processing of the same university as researcher, and also 11 months with Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent Bell as network architect. In fall 2011, he was a visiting researcher at the University of Kyoto, Japan (Takahashi Laboratory).
His research interests include queueing theory and its application to performance evaluation in ICT. He has published over 40 articles, among which >18 in journals listed in ISI Web of Knowledge. He is also co-inventor in 2 patent applications (1 granted), and occasional writer for EOS magazine (in Dutch).
He is a member of the EURO Working Group on Stochastic Modelling.
