Self-reflection means taking time to think about my teaching. I think about what works and what doesn't and the why to each. This allows me to identify changes and improvements I can make. The following are several examples of some of my reflections. Some of the pieces relate to specific class videos that were created for this purpose while others are general reflections. Every time I reflect, I become a better teacher.
I model reflection in the classroom and expect the students to also reflect on their work and activities. Many times, I will tell the class that I reflected on the previous day's lesson and what I learned from it was that ... and I feel I can improve that by ... And then I will produce an artifact such as a new activity to learn a concept or a review of the lesson with the key changes. I also request feedback from the students on my teaching and their own participation and work.
