iPads for Learning (course notes > here)
- In this workshop, participants will learn about iPad navigation and device features and will be provided with basic information about the management of school iPads. An important focus of the workshop will be in exploring best pedagogical practices for using iPads to support learning, by exploring a couple of feature apps, working on sample projects and doing some collaborative sharing.
- The workshop is intended for both beginners and more experienced iPad users. For workshops offered at schools sites, participants should bring along an iPad from school. For workshops offered at the Ed Centre, there will be a limited number of iPads available to borrow.

- This workshop is for teachers who have some experience using an iPad in the classroom and who are ready to learn more about using the 'cloud' to transfer student-created work and files. Teachers will learn about and explore applications such as DropBox and Google Drive, as well as iPad apps that have a cloud component such as Educreations and Skitch/Evernote. Please bring an iPad with you to the workshop, preferably with some created content or student projects.
iPads and the Mobile Learning Environment (slideshow link > here)
- Classrooms of today are 'connected' and have increasing access to technology to support daily learning. What are the implications of ubiquitous wifi and access to mobile devices in terms of how we think about technology as it supports learning? In this workshop, not only will we examine these issues, but we will look at the basics of the new WRDSB iPads, and explore best pedagogical practices for using iPads with students. We will look at a couple of feature apps, work on sample projects and engage in some meaningful dialogue about 21st classrooms.
iPads in the Intermediate Classroom (slideshow link > here)
- This is intended as a workshop / sharing / facilitated discussion for intermediate teachers who have some experience using an iPad in the classroom. We will explore best use of apps, strategies for handling device sharing, workflow, and content management. Student responsibility, appropriate use of devices, and other issues related to digital citizenship will be addressed as well. There will be time designated in the session for discussion and Q/A.
The Best Web 2.0 Apps ~ for Desktops and iPads - (website link > here)
- Web 2.0 tools are websites that allow for student and teacher collaboration, communication and creation. In this workshop, we will explore some of the best Web 2.0 tools for your classroom - websites that are accessible not only from any computer but most from iPads and other mobile devices as well. Come and learn about some great ways to engage students in creative projects, adaptable to many grades and subject areas.
Lights, Action, Camera! (slideshow link > here)
- This workshop has been designed as a 'hands on' experience for teachers who want to explore media creation on the iPad. We will provide instruction for the use of Stop Motion Animation, iMovie, and Common Craft style video creation. Participants will then be given guidance to create their own projects. Discussion for best pedagogical practices for Grades JK - 8 will be ongoing. Participants should bring along an iPad from school. There will be a limited number of iPads available to borrow.
