01/09 I got a call from Uncle Kenny over the Holidays. He informed me that Hazel Rogers had passed on. She is survived by her husband Pete, who is a judge at Fort Smith. She was very instrumental in the family research that is included in the web site and she put in years of hard work. My condolences to the family, we will all miss her. Uncle Kenny also, told me that he and Kevin (his son) had looked at the web site and he pretty much agreed with everything that was said except for the part about the Rogers being the most handsome people in the family, he said that was just wrong. The Workmans are better looking and have the prettiest women. I haven't met any of the Rogers family in person yet. This is what I have from Jimmy Rogers and his daughter Gina. Rogers Family - I got some email from family members in Texas who found us through a geneology message board. Here are some thoughts from Jimmy D. Rogers (Pete's brother) and his daughter Gina and also a link to their family's site.

Gina Rogers - I really enjoyed visiting with you as well. I agree with the Rogers being the most talented people in the family tree and were a pretty good-looking bunch, to boot! My mothers, grandfather Stewart could play over 100 different musical instruments. Growing up; her and my Aunt took piano. My grandfather's brother, (Great) Uncle Henry plays the Banjo, guitar and fiddle; he loves Blue-grass and so do I. I want to be playing by the next time we get together and surprise him. I know of only two other people in my family who are musically inclined, besides my Uncle Joe. My half brother & sister. Bret started playing drums at 6 or 7 yrs. old. He played the Trombone(sp) (I think, marching band) in High School. He received a music scholarship from Texas Tech. After completing his scholarship he got into Opera, also at Texas Tech (He performs with the Opera club/class and will be performing next year at Myerson Hall in Dallas. My sister, Shara is talented in her own right. Her nick name is "Bo"; we use to say "Bo does, basketball, tennis, violin and guitar, there isn't anything Bo can't do." (Just like the athelete Bo Jackson) She started taking violin when she was 5yrs old; playing by ear. Later she played clarinett then taught herself to play guitar and read music. Last summer, I visited her in Austin and she was practicing "Bach" on the acoustic. Joe Rogers - Recording Artist The only thing I really know about Joe's career is that he played with Bob Wills. Dad also said, he help promote his son in the country music industry. Dad did play his CD for me a few times when I came to visit. I remember granny Rogers had a few religious albums with Joe's picture on them. Then I was told that he knew a lot of people like Glen Campbell, Frank Sinatra, Waylon Jennings, etc. I got the opportunity to meet Waylon Jennings about ten years ago. I attended a fund raiser for the Special Olympics, in Paris, TX (which is 25miles north of our 'lil town.) I wasn't sure if Joe really knew Waylon or not, or if I had the right singers name. I got in line to meet him and introduced myself exactly like Uncle Joe instructed me too, as Joe Rogers neice. He not only knew Uncle Joe he wanted me to tell Joe to quit acting so stuck up and come see him. It made my day!
