What's the difference between spiritual companioning/direction and other disciplines such as counseling or coaching?
Glad you asked! Although the three may overlap a bit at some points, there are distinctive goals and approaches to each of these disciplines. Click here to see an informative chart on these distinctions.
“Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.”
(3 John 1:2 NASB)The Church, from ancient times, has always known that the soul prospers best when it is tended to with loving care, humility, and the assistance of those gifted to serve as spiritual companions or guides. We provide:
Spiritual companions journey with people as they strengthen and deepen their relationship with God, and seek to create and maintain a healthy spiritual life.
The spiritual retreat invites participants to "come away" from their daily routine and distractions in order to spend extended time being with God rather than doing for God. Retreats can be facilitated around a particular theme (such as prayer or other spiritual practice), or a more generalized experience of reflection and renewal. We can also facilitate "retreats in daily life" where participants experience some of the benefits of a retreat without going away to a remote location.
Word&Wisdomtm has a deep commitment to the growth and renewal of ministry leaders. We are delighted to facilitate leadership retreats where clergy and lay leaders have an opportunity to focus on their relationship with God, reflect on how it impacts their call to leadership, and be renewed to "run on and see what the end will be."
