Sports Hall of Fame

Just before the Pandemic hit us full blown, I attended an induction ceremony at W-L for the Hall of Fame. We also had people inducted before this too. Details that I have are here.

50 Year Reunion

Our 50th year reunion was held over the weekend of September 16 - September 18 2016. It was held at the Rosslyn Holiday Inn Hotel in Arlington VA. This one put our emotions out of sight. I just don't think there would or could ever be an event planned that could go any better than this reunion. Everything was just perfect. In Class of 1966 style, we continued to party well past midnight and had standing room only in the bar area that we had access to from 12 midnight to 2am

40 Year Reunion

Our 40th year reunion was held over the weekend of September 29 - October 1 2006. It was held at the Best Western Westpark Hotel in Tysons Corner. Even though this reunion was smaller than our 20th or 25th, the whole thing was a very big success. A fun time was had by all. Both Friday and Saturday nights we continued to party in true W-L style even after the "official" time had expired. We just moved from the meeting rooms up to our hospitality suite.

W-L 75 Year Celebration

The Ribbon Cutting was the start to the weekend's festivities. There were people there from the graduating class of 1927 through 2000. Mr. Tom Christie was also there. He taught Chemistry at W-L from 1926 till 1972.

Saturday started out with tours of the school, class tables, a W-L museum of memorabilia, and "General" get togethers. Our class table had a small crowd around it all day. I felt we were well represented among the years. Randolph Pitts was quite the topic of discussion as he was asked by all, "How in the world did the rumor get started?" We are very happy that he was there to answer for himself! He promises to try to make it to the next event our class schedules.

Saturday evening was the dance. I can't say that we overwhelmed the dance floor, but our class occupied about 4 tables full of 66ers. I overheard several people commenting, "What? More 66ers!". It made me feel good to be associated with such a fine group of classmates. I think our class was more interested in sharing stories than dancing.

There was a picnic scheduled at Bon Air Park for Sunday. Mother Nature tried to dampen our spirits by threatening to dump the water out of the "Old Oaken Bucket" on us, but W-L Alumni showed their resourcefulness by having the school cafeteria opened up instead. Again, the class of 66 "Shined" in having a good turnout over the course of the afternoon.

Sunday evening was the orchestra performance. I didn't attend, but am told by Kathryn Derr that it was very enjoyable.

30 Year Reunion Saturday Night Social

Here are Pictures from that wonderful evening.

30 Year Reunion Sunday Picnic

The picnic at Roundtree Park in Annandale was well received. I would guess that approximately 70 people showed up over the course of the day. A few of us were still in the parking lot at 7:15 p.m. It seems like we just didn't want to go. There was plenty to eat and drink; but, I don't think anybody overdid it... The company was just fantastic. As soon as we get pictures(Does anyone have any pictures of this?), we will be changing this page, and as I'm told what's of General (pun intended) interest, it will get posted.

20 Year Reunion

I personally had nothing to do with the planning for this event. I can say I had a blast! I believe they hired the Hubcaps Band to play the music. The only thing I can post is the very wide photo of the classmates that attended.
