Bette Jo Underdahl "Borgen"

Former Juneau resident Bette Jo Borgen, 57, died Aug. 29, 2006, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.


She was born Sept. 13, 1948, in Idaho, and first moved to Alaska in 1972. She worked with the Alaska Marine Highway System as a purser on ferries, traveling up and down the Alaska Inside Passage for more than 20 years.


During her time in Alaska, she had lived in Ketchikan from 1978 until 1984, when she moved to Juneau. From 1996 until her return to Alaska in 2003, she was a resident of St. George, Utah.


She is survived by her son, John Lorentzen.


Visitation was Aug. 31 at Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
